Lake lessons: Please bring a water bottle, sun screen, and snacks for your child to have before or after lessons. If your child gets chilled in the lake or pool, please bring a wet suit or rash guard (swimming t-shirt) for them. During our outdoor lesson sets on day three, we have a PJ day! (This is a fun way which teaches your child what it is like to swim in clothes, if they ever find themselves fully clothed in the water!) Day four is life jacket day, and day five is an end of program fun day! Make sure to ask what the theme your child’s lessons will be, as we switch them up during the summer.
Indoor lesson: Meet you instructor on deck family changeroom side closes to the showers. here parent will pick up thier child. Parents are expected to be five minute early form the pick up times. Should you be late fore pick up you will be charge $5.00 per minute you are late, we cannot have this happen as it affects lesson start times.
Can my child bring goggles?
Yes! You can bring personal goggles to class; however, we ask that they don’t have a nose guard on them! We will be teaching them how to keep the water from getting in their nose. Some children have anxiety in the water without the use of the nose protection. Please let your child’s instructor know if this is a challenge for your child. The instructor will help work at the correct pace to ease your child’s anxiety.

Pool drop in fees ?
Penticton Pool does require a drop in fee this is not included in our cost. we have chosen to do that this way as if we were to incorporate that cost into our pricing we would have to charge you an additional 5% worth of GST taxes. We do suggest our clients that are doing continual lesson programs to either invest in a seasonal year pass or attend swipe pass you do have saving benefits with this, we also encourage you to take your child to the pool as much as you are able to within that year. It has been proven that kids that practice outside of their swimming lessons alone develop their swimming skills faster than swimming lessons alone.
Hotel pool bookings has drop in fees included this is based upon each location as it may vary from pool to pool. Ideally we would like to go towards more of this type of registration but currently Penticton does not have accommodations for a hotel pool at the moment. We are looking into this and will let you know if this policy does change.
Additional or extra program requirements?
We are constantly adding and programming for our clients this is done so by requesting the office programmer to customize something for you. We ask if you are requiring a group lesson with report cards that the sessions go alongside the same as our regular programming. Should you not require a report card we will add in the session as a custom private lesson booking where report cards are written a few times out of the year.
We are working hard to add in the programming needed for the community. has changed in the last three years and programming is not as sought after as it used to be, we are trying to accommodate as much as we can your feedback is essential in our planning for the upcoming season.
We are never fully booked and have tons of options for our clients if something online says full please reach out we may be able to accommodate you in another way.

What PFD should I buy?
We recommend on buying ones that are Canadian approved they are all yellow, red or orange in color.
Make sure you are buying the correct fit for wight and body size. Always store your PFD out of direct sunlight and if using in a pool be sure you rinse it well before storing away. Discarded your PFD when you see rips or holes in it as this can make it not as effective in the water.
Reminder a PFD is different from a lifejacket as this may not keep your child from floating face first in the water. people can still drown in a PFD it should never be replaced as active supervision of your child.
How do I apply for funding?
We have funding available to help you cover the cost of your child’s swimming lessons should you require some finical assistance. Please note learn to swim funding cannot be used for pool drop in fees. Pool does have a program assisting in financial assistance for families that qualify for more information you can visit Penticton's website or head into Penticton Pool and request for some financial assistance. A little bit of paperwork to be filled out and an approval process for this, note this should be done before using learn to swim funding to book your lessons if you are not able to cover your child's drop in.
If you are In need of using our learn to swim funds we ask that you save these funds for families that truly need this. We don't want to ask intrusive questions as to proof of income. To apply for this funding click the link below
